Read this part if you read nothing else
DayCount Supply is a planning worksheet, not professional advice. It is not medical, legal, financial, engineering or emergency-management advice, and we are not doctors, lawyers, electricians or emergency officials. In an emergency, follow the instructions of your local authorities over anything on this site. Decisions about medication, dosing, firearms, fuel, electrical work and evacuation carry real consequences, and they belong with a qualified professional who knows your situation.
Using the site
By using DayCount Supply you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use it. The site is free, provided as-is, and you are welcome to share the link.
What the numbers are
The quantities this site calculates are planning targets scaled from published guidance — principally FEMA, the CDC, the EPA, the USDA, the AAP and the US Army — applied to the household you enter. They are not a prescription and not a guarantee of sufficiency.
- Individual requirements vary by roughly 20% either side of any figure here, and considerably more for anyone with a medical condition.
- The figures assume a specific scenario — sheltering in place with the building intact. A different emergency has different arithmetic.
- Prices, products, suppliers, regulations and official guidance all change. The page carries a review date; anything time-sensitive should be confirmed before you rely on it.
- We may be wrong. The content has been checked against primary sources and corrected several times, and it will contain errors anyway.
Law varies by where you live
This site is written for a United States audience, but firearm storage and carry, self-defense, chemical sprays, fuel storage quantities, rainwater collection, burn rules and building requirements all differ by state, county and municipality — sometimes sharply, and what is lawful in one place may be an offence a state line away. Where this site names a specific rule it is offered as an example of the kind of rule that exists, not as a statement of your law. Verify your own obligations against your jurisdiction's current statute or a lawyer licensed there.
Suppliers and links
Suppliers named on this site are starting points, not endorsements. We do not vouch for any company listed, we have no relationship with any of them, and we do not verify their products, claims, pricing or conduct on an ongoing basis. The site gives you checks to apply; apply them yourself before spending money.
Links to third-party sites are provided for convenience. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, safety or availability.
Affiliate disclosure
Some links go to our own Amazon storefront and earn us a commission on purchases. This is disclosed where those links appear. No supplier pays to be listed here, and no item is included because it earns a commission.
No warranty
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the content is complete, current or error-free, or that the site will be available without interruption.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss, injury, illness, property damage, expense, or any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of this site or your reliance on anything in it. You use this information at your own risk and remain responsible for your own decisions, including decisions about your family's safety.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Content and reuse
The text, design and calculations on this site are ours. You are welcome to use the site for your own household, print it, and share the link freely. Republishing the content as your own, or using it commercially, requires permission. Government guidance referenced here remains the property and responsibility of the issuing agency.
Changes
We may update these terms, and the date at the top will change when we do. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
